Next to the Hoover Dam, they're building the biggest concrete arch bridge in the world across the mighty Colorado River, connecting Nevada and Arizona. The arch was finished last week and the bridge is to open at the end of 2010.

Wow - and what a drop below... Amazing that concrete can hold ...
ReplyDeleteGreat, you have to keep us posted about this!
ReplyDeleteWow, how interesting ! Apparently there had been a lot of changes since I had been there in the 90th !
ReplyDeleteGreat shots. That will be an amazing bridge.
ReplyDeleteSounds exciting!
ReplyDeleteWonder how the view would be from up there.
Wow! and Wow again. Love the shots with the water. Wow!
ReplyDeleteHi W - Great shots. However, just a bit of advise: don't be the first to test that bridge!
ReplyDeleteI just saw a document about the making of St. Louis monument and it somehow reminded me of that bridge. How the arc connected in the middle and all. Those big projects are so grandiose but there is no mythical work men heroes anymore, or is there?
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing what man can build. Nice shots.
ReplyDeleteThe difference between this and the St.Louis Arch is that it has to withstand all these huge trucks crossing every minute.
ReplyDeleteI'll have to go back and check on the progress - I hated shooting into the sun - maybe I can find another vantage point. The Hoover Dam and now the bridge - amazing feats of engineering.
Wow, that looks crazy! Maybe it will become a new landmark... Absolutely stunning!
ReplyDeleteWow, I had no idea they were building this. Great shots. Can't wait to see what it will look like.
ReplyDeletethat's crazy! amazing, but crazy!!! why does it have to be an arch?
