The Mutilation Convention

My stomach is churning after attending the biggest tattoo convention in the world at the Mandalay Bay - needles make me queasy and this was needles galore. What, in heaven's name, are these people doing to themselves? They were all very nice, but...

  1. I strongly agree with your words, only extreme pain or illness could reconcile me with any kind of needle!

  2. Yuck. I agree. But couuldn't you get the person in the last photo to sit up a little straighter?

  3. I never understood the need to mark up your body. I don't have any tattoos and don't envision ever getting any

  4. Gotta love the matchstick in the guy's mouth in the first one. Nice series.

  5. Needles make me nervous too but I admire the artistry of it.

  6. A lot of these tattoos at the convention were quite beautiful - there is a lot of skill involved. But aren't these tattoos better viewed as a painting on a wall? Who can view it if it's on your back or ass? Now what if you commission a totally original tattoo, but the guy decides to put it on everyone else, or worse, on Charles Manson or some other serial killer who's still at large? You see the problem...

  7. Outch, that hurts just by watching your pictures. I guess tattoos have something to do with self-beautification. Well, you know, beauty lies in the eye of the beholder. I think it is also an anti-mainstream statement although tattoos are fairly mainstream by now.
