Vegas Poker Rooms

The MGM has one of the bigger poker rooms - very well run, but wedged between Studio 54 and a bar, it's very loud. I go to the Riviera to meet elegant men - that's OK, I'm not so glamorous myself. The Fontana Room at the Bellagio is often used for tournaments - you can see the dancing fountains in the window.

  1. Yes, those guys all make a different dress statements while making the same one!
I'll ask you the same question I did MOJO: Does Security ever bother you about taking photos inside?

  2. I was wondering the same question that Crash asked. Nice shots, by the way.

  3. Same question about taking pictures inside. The second shot is superlative!

  4. Ssh, don't tell anyone. Actually, the dealer in the bottom photo is telling me I can't take photos, as he's posing for one. I have the wide-eyed tourist with a point and shoot act down - they never really stop me. But they stop me for smoking in forbidden areas ALL the time.

  5. I never understood why there is such a fuss about photos inside the casino? You think they would like the publicity.

  6. It's about the privacy of gamblers - if I were stupid enough to sit down at roulette, I wouldn't want my photo taken either.

  7. I really like your Vegas images; I love that where you live is so very different to where I live - even the people look different!

Do you ever feel like you live in a film set?

  8. People visit here from all over the world. The Strip and casinos - yes, it's like a Fellini film - but outside of the Strip, it's the ugliest, bleakest, strip mall kind of place mainly. But they do have the most beautiful and best lending library I've ever been to - go figure.

  9. Like your shots! So, tell me, what is it that makes gambling so exciting? Is it the win of huge amounts of money for very little effort? Is that really so trivial?

  10. Gambling is extremely addictive, much more so than cocaine and tobacco. I've met people who gambled away their money, homes, identities, everything and they're still at it, convinced they're going to hit "the big one". Of course, if they ever do, they'll gamble that away, too.
