The Old El Cortez Is New Again

Sometimes they don't blow up old buildings in Vegas, but renovate them. Also, old neon signs are being pulled from the neon graveyard and installed on Fremont St - makes it quite wonderful.

  6. I am always for keeping nice old buildings and to renovate them. At the Belgian coast they demolished all these beautiful Mansions along the promenade and replaced them like boxes looking high buildings ! It is a shame and soooo ugly ! But of course they have more appartments to sell or to rent !

  7. I like the idea of renovation. And the neon signs are fun, as long as they're in Vegas.

  11. Wonderful pictures! I love old neon signs. I visited the neon boneyard once. It was absolutely amazing and IMHO the most interesting place in Vegas.

  12. Old is cool and when old becomes new it must be even more cooler. That martini glass neon is just incredible.

  15. It's still pretty neon for me, W! However your shots are fantastic. I especially like the angles on the second. The pink clouds in the first are a nice touch, too - a bit of natural beauty.

  17. Recycling--that's the way to go! :D I'm glad they're rediscovering the value of the old signs. I love all things vintage, and moves, such as this, to restore their old glories is cause for celebration in my book!

Thanks for your visit, W! I hope you can visit St. Pete again someday.
