PBR - Opening Ceremonies
Flashes of light, fireworks, the cowboy riders emerge from the smoke, a giant flag unfurls and the Border Patrol descend on ropes. Let the bull riding begin.

Great shots! Are you going to the NFR next month?
ReplyDeleteI didn't see the guys on the ropes at first! A great and spectacular opening.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful night shots even with all that smoke around.
ReplyDeleteGreat shots - especially that middle one where I first thought those guys were dolls or at least, plastic cowboys!
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures. I do hope I'll be able to visit Vegas one day.
ReplyDeleteAmericans are VERY different from the English aren't they!! A row of Brit men would never stand there trying to look cool because:
ReplyDeletea) It's impossible, they'd just look a bit embarassed & awkward
b) Their mates & the public would be shouting 'wankerrrrr' from the stands!
I always wanted to go to the Star Trek Hotel in Vegas but hear it's shut now. Living in Vegas looks bonkers.
Fun shots. I agree with the commenter who thought the guys were plastic at first.
ReplyDeleteFun captures!
ReplyDeleteI always struggle with night shots!
Never a dull moment. Thanks for the post
ReplyDeleteTo answer your question: Since 1918. Well, that's the day we're remembering but the holiday was set later - 1937 and then back in 1989. You don't mean the 22th of July as in the communist PKWN Manifesto?
ReplyDeleteAnd as for the cheese try it and you'll see. Best goes with cranberry sauce.
Great shots. I saw those men hanging on those ropes. Hoorah for Vegas.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun post for the day! Terrific shots and I did see the men hanging on the ropes! Ah, only in Vegas!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy!
Sylvia
YeeeeeeHaaaaaaw!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThat first shot is a great capture, W! There is one piece of orange bread left - I'm saving it for you. (Never feed the wild things.)
ReplyDeleteOh, the bull riding begins now. I thought you had been doing that a whole week already!:-)
ReplyDeleteI can't make up my mind which photo I like the most, all three are great.
ReplyDeleteIn answer to your question, herding is instinctive for collies but some take to it more quickly than others. And there are always the few who are more interested in the treats. :)
chrome, everything is backwards on blogs. If someone wants to look it up later, then they'll get it in the right order - that's why the opening is last.
ReplyDeleteThis whole series is terrific. I'm jealous.
ReplyDeleteSmoke and mirrors, a great show. Hope no-one got too badly hurt.
