W3WB At The Stratosphere

Once a year these bizarre blue structures go up in the Stratosphere parking lot - it's the World 3 Wall Ball Championship - racquetball, paddleball and handball for all ages.

W3WB: Rhonda Rajsich, World Champion

I know nothing about racquetball, but 2 years ago I stumbled across the World 3 Wall Ball Championship in the Stratosphere parking lot - couldn't help noticing a tall, lanky girl who pulverized her opponents. I returned this year - Rhonda Rajsich, the World Champ, is still making mincemeat out of everyone else. Couldn't be late for her match, because it could be over in 10 minutes.

CMSA: Shooting Whilst Riding

I went to the mounted cowboy shooting experience, just to remind myself that I do live in the Wild West - and that cowboys are handsome, even the young ones.

CMSA Championship At South Point

The Cowboy Mounted Shooting Association's Western U.S. Championship - they have their Olympics in London, we have ours - ours has better costumes and my ears are still ringing.

Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest At NYNY

I learned a lot about techniques of speed eating - you dip the hot dog in water (mustard and all) - excuse me while I gag.

Hot Dog Eating Contest - Faces Of Valor

The winner of the Vegas preliminaries (30 dogs in 10 minutes) will go to Coney Island to take on the world champion (60+ dogs in 10 mins).  Speed eating? This is one contest I wouldn't mind coming in dead last.

The Sign Spinning World Championship

Sign spinning should become an Olympic sport - it's gymnastics, but on hard cement. At least the kids had a moment to shine.

Watching The Super Bowl In Vegas

I went to the Hilton, now the Las Vegas Hotel, to photograph the Super Bowl - why watch it on one screen, when you can see it on hundreds?

World Series Of Beer Pong At The Flamingo

I enjoyed the Beer Pong Championships - beer flying everywhere, trash talk and the media taking it very seriously. Seek N Destroy ("White Boy") won the $50,000 first prize.

Mayhem At The World Series Of Beer Pong

To win the $50,000 world championship of beer pong you need a keen aim whilst drunk as a skunk, the ferocity of a sumo wrestler, the ability to deploy every dirty trick laced with  profanities and a loud cheering section.

No Toilets At Vegas Marathon

Hydrating station - some pranksters set this up

Line at downtown Jack In The Box
Biggest Vegas Rock'n'Roll Marathon ever - 44,000 runners and not one toilet provided along the route - long lines at fast food joints. The organizers, Zappos, promise it'll be even bigger next year. What, 44,000 people in need of a piss is not enough?

BMX In Vegas, Dew Tour

Lucky I have a long lens - you don't want to be too close to the action, in case somebody lands on your head.

BMX Dew Tour, Vegas 2011

If this looks dreadfully dangerous, it is.I like biking myself, but who knew you could swirl and twirl along with your bicycle?

Racquetball In The Rain

Thought I'd catch some exciting world championship racquetball action - well, it was an outdoor event. Caught some not so exciting broom action and a rainbow.

The H.I.T. Factory Boxing Gym, Vegas

The H.I.T. Factory (Hidden Individual Potential) is a gleaming, modern boxing gym with a small recording studio in the back if - you box well, you can rap about it later.
