Elephants' Welcome In Vegas

Barnum & Bailey brought some elephants to the Welcome sign and laid out a huge buffet for them - loaves of bread, corn, apples and their favorite, watermelons. The only thing they didn't eat were the carrots - don't like them anymore than I do.

Nascar Vegas: Haulers Parade

Once a year the big trucks come up the Strip in a long procession - the racing cars are inside? Some people even bring chairs to view the monster trucks better.

Everyone rides the Deuce bus on the Strip - even street performers have to get home.

A Cathedral On The Vegas Strip

Not many people know there's a cathedral on the Strip, right next to the Encore - not a huge one, but a cathedral nonetheless. The inscription on the statue says "May the Holy Family bless our visitors and protect them on their journey homeward". It means, if you've blown all your cash, please leave.

Protest Vegas Style

Occupy Wall St occupied Vegas. The "Stop Foreclosure" sign is carried in front of City Center, the most expensive private building project ever, which, ironically, is in danger of being foreclosed.

Hot Babes Direct To You In Vegas

This truck advertising hot babes to your room goes up and down the Strip all day and all night - it never stops and seems to pop up in half my photos. Yes, these girls want to meet you, but only if you have lots and lots of cash.

Vegas Rock'n'Roll Marathon

Running 26 miles is a tad extreme - I couldn't even walk it. But it's fun watching people drop like flies, all 30,000 of them as they ran up and down the Strip.

Las Vegas Marathon On The Strip

And they ran past all the famous casinos - NY NY, City Center, Bellagio - more people started than finished. At 26 miles, who can blame them?

Las Vegas Marathon Crowded And Messy

When 30,000 people run at the same time, things get crowded and messy - luckily they found a woman who cleaned it all up.

Springtime In Vegas

Finally it warmed up in Vegas - sidewalk cafes are preparing to open and tourists are giddy with excitement - so giddy some of them have to take an instant nap.

Valentine's Weekend In Vegas

First, some luscious pastries at the Bellagio (The Jean-Philippe Patisserie - it was mobbed), followed by a visit to a strip club - no, that's the Flamingo casino, where they bump and grind while you play blackjack - and then you get married. A happy Vegas Valentine.

Venom In Vegas

A guy from Animal Planet is spending 10 days in a glass booth on the Strip, with dozens of venomous snakes for company. He gets visited by camera crews. The snakes are fed cute little mice.
Why do I keep thinking Steve Irwin and Siegfried & Roy?

Party, Party On The Strip

Once a year total strangers party together on the Strip, like there was no tomorrow. Forget Facebook - this is the way to make 200,000 new friends.
